Countdown to Disney

Wednesday, August 31, 2011
I can't wait for our upcoming trip to Disneyland.  It is about a month away, so I made these countdown calenders for the girls.  They are just ribbons hooked on the door of my linen closet.  I put a pin on the ribbon and then tied on a numbered picture of Disney character for each day.
The girls are super excited to open them each day and decide if their pin is a keeper or a trader!  As for me, I just can't wait to get to Disneyland!

1st Day of School

Tuesday, August 30, 2011
I can't believe it, Bella is a first grader.
She was so excited for her first day of school.  She was up bright and early, ready to go!
She is mostly excited about being in the french immersion program.  She received this Madeleine doll last night along with new owl pajamas to help her be a smarty pants.  I had this whole calm evening planned, to help her be ready.  Then the sprinklers in the back broke and flooded my scrap room, so we spent the evening mopping up a mess while Grandma Chris played with the girls and helped them get ready for bed.
Off she goes. We walked her to the bus stop.  She was thrilled to be riding the bus.  Mom isn't so sure.
Onto the bus.
And away she goes!
Of course, I made Bret drive us over to the school to make certain she made it okay and lined up with her class.  She is definitely ready for this next great adventure!

Wildflowers

Sunday, August 28, 2011
With the cool summer weather this year, we were a little worried about having any wildflowers for our annual pictures.  Of course, they did not disappoint.  The colors were different, a lot more white than usual, but still beautiful.
We only got a few good shots of June, before she turned into a grump!
Then, she would only let Grandma carry her.
Bella was a great sport and looked beautiful.
She even hiked for these purples!
My favorite shot, lots more on Bret's fliker!

Catch

Saturday, August 27, 2011
For Junie's birthday, our cousin Sam, decided there was far too much girlie stuff at our house and Junie needed some sports stuff.  Thus, a pink bat, ball and a glove.  Bret took June outside to try out the new sports equipment.
She tried, but was a little nervous about the ball.  I guess there is more work that needs to be done here.
Bella got out her glove too, also pink!
She had a great time playing catch and even caught a few, who knows, maybe we will play sports after all!!

New Trike

Tuesday, August 23, 2011
A few days after her birthday, the girls and I were driving with Grandma Chris.  All of a sudden, Junie pipes up and says, (with her usual exaggerated hand gestures), "Grammer, you forgot to give me a birthday present."  She was pretty unhappy.  I had to explain that Grandma didn't forget, Mom just told her to wait.  We headed back to the house and Grandma brought out a new trike for her.  Needless to say she was thrilled and all was quickly forgiven!  She loves her new bike, especially the horn!

Cute Cousins

I love this picture of Bella and her cousin, Zoe.  It looks like a very important conversation!

Flower Cap

Monday, August 22, 2011
The girls where being far too quiet and when I went to check on them, this is what was going on.  Preparations for a new dance show.
Every inch of June's hair was covered in flowers and hairbows.
The final result, adorable I have to say!
And oh what a show it was!

The Slide

Sunday, August 21, 2011
June has conquered the slide and with complete disregard to Mom's nervousness, wants to climb up constantly, by herself!
Down she goes, she does require someone to catch her!
Nice straight form, stiff as a board...
all the way into the water!

Big Bike

Saturday, August 20, 2011
After working hard, Bella has finally mastered bike riding, and it was time to get her a bigger bike. We took her to a few places to look, and she decided on this one.
Now she can really go!
Look out world, here she comes!

Star Party

Friday, August 19, 2011
Bret and Bella love to look at the stars, so we thought it would be fun to check out a star party at Wheeler Farm.
In case you are wondering, a star party is when a bunch of amateur astronomers bring out their telescopes and let anyone look through them.
They also had a hayride through the woods at the farm and had someone point out all the stars you can see.  The girls loved it, Bella especially.  She has been pointing out the summer triangle and talking about stars to anyone who would listen!
We'll go again, so let us know if you are interested!

Junie's Party

Thursday, August 18, 2011
Happy Birthday to June.  We had a Minnie Mouse swimming party for her.  She was most excited about the presents so we started with those!
A giant Minnie Mouse pillow!
Minnie needs lots of kisses!
She loved opening all of her presents, she really got into it and was so funny to watch!
After it was time for a quick dip with Dad!
And motorboat rides with Becca!
Showing off what she asked for, a Minnie Mouse shopping cart.  And very cute golden sandals from MArme.  (Junie loves to sing "Oh Those Golden Slippers" to Marme, so they were especially perfect!)
The birthday girl had a ball!
Happy Birthday #3 Big Girl!  We love you!

Birthday Princess

Bella planned an extra special surprise for the morning of June's birthday.  She made a her a crown and a wand, and even brought up the throne for the birthday princess.
As soon as Junie woke up, Bella brought her into the living room and crowned her the princess!
Bella even brought in one of the pillows from her bed for June's feet.  What a Birthday Princess!
