Mountain Day

Thursday, July 29, 2010
We have had such a crazy summer that we haven't had nearly enough time to spend hiking and in the mountains. We decided today was a mountain day and we are spending the entire day, no matter what!
We started out at the Temple Quarry. We wanted the girls to find a rock to help remind them of the temple. It was a perfect little walk for June.
Can you tell I made them pose her by the historical marker?
We took a quick snack break and headed up the canyon to find the next trail.
We started up the White Pines Trail. It was very green and buggy. We went as far as we could but poor little June. Her eyes started watering and her nose was running. Definitely allergic to something.
We did stumble across this little fairy stream.
Bella splashed a bit to renew her pixie dust! We only made it about a mile before we had to turn around. We continued up the canyon and decided to stop for a treat at Snowbird.
I didn't realize they had so many fun things to do out on the plaza. Bella was very excited to try the jumping.
She was bouncing every which way and doing flip after flip. She loved it!
We rode the tram up to the top of the mountain for beautiful views.
The girls were a little nervous so we didn't stay up top very long. After a check on the wildflowers, we headed back down.
We ended the day with a little swimming.
What a great finish to a fun day in the mountains! I think we made up for lost time!

Hair Cut

Sunday, July 25, 2010
We gave June her first hair cut on the 24th. I kept putting it off because I liked being able to pull her hair up into 2 ponytails, but it was past time.
The before shot of the baby mullet, or business in the front, party in the back look.
Grandma cutting away. We bribed her with a sucker to try and keep her head straight. It didn't work and I ended up holding her face to keep it steady.
Snip, snip.
The finished product. She looks adorable with her little pixie do!

24th of July

Saturday, July 24, 2010
Happy 24th of July from two cute cowgirls! Bret went golfing at 6:00 in the morning with his dad so I had to try and get a few pictures.
Junie was afraid of the flag, but we got Bella to pose with it.
Waiting for the parade, wait, it doesn't come down our street? Back inside to watch it on TV. After 18 holes, we headed over to spend the afternoon with my parents.
It was a very fun and low key afternoon. Grandma brought out huge butterfly nets and the girls tried to catch bubbles.
Then we got out the water balloons.
I tried to tell Junie not to put it in her mouth!
She was a little surprised by the splash!
We turned on the sprinklers so the girls could run around and get wet. Bella loved it, but June did not. Even Marme (my grandma) rolled up her pants and tried to get June in the water, but she refused!
She was very happy to play on the swing.
And loved catching water balloons with Grandpa!
I think they caught a snake!
My sweet Par relaxing and watching us be silly.
Bella and Grandpa taking a little break from all the action.
Junie and Grandma ready for the fireworks. The girls are still afraid of sparklers so Bret and Grandpa had to do them all.
Bella did pick out a few fireworks. She was especially excited about the Hula Girl.
Happy Pioneer Day!

Slumber Party

Thursday, July 22, 2010
Bella had her first sleep over with her cousin Lily. The girls were so excited. It is so fun to have a cousin so close in age. They love to be together.
We started out meeting at Kangaroo Zoo so the girls could run around and start getting tired. It is always fun to visit with Janine too.
Two cuties!
Bella loves to jump and run!
June, not so much. I think she is afraid of all the big slides. She usually just sits and gets Janine to sympathize with her, which she does. Junie knows a sympathetic soul!
Then it was over to Grandma's to swim and swim and swim. These girls swam for almost 4 hours straight!
Then back to our house for bed. These girls had matching pajamas which they were thrilled about. We got all cosy downstairs and started the snacks and movies. Finally, I had to turn the movies off so they would go to sleep.
The next morning they were just as excited to get dressed in matching outfits! This wasn't planned, their mom's just have great taste!
These two played and played all day. It was a great time and we can't wait to have Lily back again!

Float Preview

Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Time for the float preview. These are the girls in front of the float my parents helped with.

Junie was not very impressed.

The best part, I ran into one of my oldest friends, Suzanne. I haven't seen her since before Bella was born. She hasn't changed a bit, and I loved catching up with her.
Bella and her friend Haley hit it off immediately. It wasn't two minutes before they were holding hands and walking around together. It was a little like when Suzanne and I met. Our older sisters are the same age and thought we should meet since we would be starting junior high together. We met at the science fair, both put our hands in our pockets and started walking around. We have been friends ever since.
Her daughters were great hams for pictures, I loved it!
The cricket float was my favorite. All these crickets were so cute.
They let the girls pick them up and pose with them.
Once we had seen all the floats we stood in line for face painting.
Junie smeared hers immediately but still thought it was very fancy! What a fun afternoon!

Many Faces of Uncle Paul

Friday, July 16, 2010
It isn't hard to guess why we love Uncle Paul! When it comes to fun in the pool, there is no one better. He has this magical way of getting the kids to do crazy tricks and they love it.
Here they are, all lined up and jumping in. I love little Abby in this picture.
Down they go!

The splash!
These kids were having a great time.

Paul taught Bella a new way to get in the pool. Sit on his shoulders and fall in together.
Of course, there is also the way of standing on his shoulders and jumping in! The best way to get air!
Nothing like tossing Abby in the air as high as she could go. She was loving this!

My favorite picture of Paul and Ian!
Bella would get quite high too. She was also doing flips in the air which make her mom just a little nervous! We had a great afternoon at the pool! Thanks Uncle Paul!
