Cabin

After months of talking about it, we finally took Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan up on their offer of using their cabin for the weekend. Bella was so excited, she couldn't wait to get there and told everyone she saw about us going to the cabin. Grandma Chris came with us and we headed up Friday evening. we made it just before dark and got everything unpacked and settled just as the sun went down. It was perfect as we couldn't get the generator running. Luckily, this just made for an adventure. We spent the first night visiting by firelight and then to bed. Thank goodness for the wood burning stove, because there was frost on everything in the morning, but we all stayed nice and cozy in our beds.
There is nothing quite like the hair on my girls in the morning. (It looks like this every morning and I always get a kick out of it.) Notice the mark on Junie's forehead. She woke up in the middle of the night, sleeping for the first time in a big girl bed. (A cute toddler bed that Grandpa DeYoung actually made for Grandma Chris when she was a baby.) She was so excited, she started jumping on the bed and saying "Cabin, Cabin." and bam, she smacked herself right in the middle of her forehead. After a restful morning, we headed out to check out the area.
We were hiking around Moose Lake when we met some friendly fishermen and this little guy. What a cute little frog.
This is the reaction of the girls to this little guy. You would have thought it was a dinosaur from the screams and hysterics. Good thing the fisherman had already caught breakfast because I am sure we scared everything far, far away!
After we calmed down and had a little lunch, Bella wanted to try out the ATV's. A good helmet is always a must!
She and Bret had a great time. She was laughing, yelling and holding her arms in the air. Thank goodness!
Later in the afternoon, we headed down to a picnic area with a great stream that the girls loved crossing on the rocks.
Junie tried the bridge, but wanted to jump across the rocks, same as Sissy.
Once she knew about the rocks, she was not happy to be on the bridge again.
We saw some moose, but didn't get close enough for any pictures. We did see quite a few beaver dams and Bret decided he needed a stick for his stick collection. (I am not sure what this is, I would guess I have thrown it out if he really does have a stick collection!)
We spent a lot of time relaxing on the front deck. Bella blew bubbles.
Junie tried really hard to blow the bubbles.
Junie turned into the grumpopatomus without her nap so we tried and tried to appease her. Finally, I rocked her to sleep in the buffalo chair. Bret made us an awesome dutch oven dinner, which was a ton of work.
Junie stayed asleep so we had a great evening around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.

We stayed up to watch the moon and stars come out. It was amazing to see so many. One of the things I really miss living in the city is seeing all the beautiful stars.
The next morning we made our way home. Thanks again Mike and Susan, e had a great time. Bella is still talking about the trip and can't wait to go back!
