Fireworks
Friday, July 24, 2009
We spent most of the 24th swimming and then headed home to do a few fireworks. Since Bella has over come her fear of them, she and Bret picked out a few. She loves smoke bombs and could do them all day long.
The pagoda was a hit. For the grand finale, Bella chose the princess tiara firework. (I had to ask Bret if he ever imagined he would be buying fireworks with a crown on them!)
It actually was quite an impressive show!
Donut Falls
Thursday, July 23, 2009
Since we are trying to hike as much as possible this summer, we decided on an impromptu hike to Donut Falls this evening. It was a quick little trip up the canyon and to the falls. Bella loved them once we got there. She wanted to climb through the water all the way to the top, but Bret stopped her, just a little too dangerous for 4 year olds.
She did find many places where fairies live along the way. Her own fairy wings are coming in very nicely!
Temple Open House
Wednesday, July 22, 2009
We went to the temple open house first thing in the morning. The new temple is beautiful, especially the celestial room. Bret and I have enjoyed the opportunities we have had to volunteer to help with the open house. We dressed the girls in their fanciest dresses and took them to see it. Bella was very impressed by the inside, especially the chandeliers. I am so excited to have this temple so close to our home.
Two little sweeties, obviously happy to be taking another picture.

The Circus
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
Yesterday I noticed Belle was throwing a ball in the air and trying to catch it. I asked her what she was doing and she said "I am trying to juggle this one ball and it is really hard." Then she put her arm around me and got really close to my face, always a sign she has something very serious to say. She told me "Mom, I have decided when I am bigger not 5, but when I am a Mom I am going to join the circus. But don't worry, I will come home every Sunday." What do you say to that?
Float Preview
Monday, July 20, 2009
Since chances are pretty slim that we will ever take the girls to the 24th of July parade, I decided to take them to see the float preview.
Oakley
Sunday, July 19, 2009
We headed up to Oakley this afternoon. Bret's grandparents just moved up there and we wanted to visit. I spent many a summer day with my cousins in Oakley and have great memories of the rodeo and just being a kid there. (I am still looking for my blue clog Jim!)
Father's Day
Yes, the holiday was a month ago, but it took us this long to get everyone better and ready on time for church so we could get a picture. And of course I took it so it is not the greatest. We love you Daddy! I don't know if any girls have ever adored their father more than mine do. They jump the minute they hear him walk in the door. June gets very upset if he doesn't come over and give her a kiss first thing. I can't tell you how many times Bella has come in the morning, "Where's Dad?" When I tell her he is at work, she usually says something like "I guess I will just go back to bed." or "The fun is gone today." You are the best Dad ever!
Baby Bird
Thursday, July 16, 2009
There have been baby birds learning to fly in our backyard. It has been really fun to watch. I have spent hours at my window!
This little one got stuck in my window well/ (Yes they need a little weeding!) I was so worried about it, but the Momma bird kept coming and feeding it until it was finally able to get out.
This little one was stuck in another window well, and Bret had to help it out. It was getting late in the day and I was worried about the poor little thing. The next morning we found it on my back porch. It just sat there, not afraid of us at all. Bella went out and would have touched it if Bret hadn't stopped her.
They are all gone now so I guess they learned and flew away, but I loved to watch them. I hope we get birds again next year.
Cecret Lake
Bell's Canyon
Thursday, July 9, 2009
Bella was very excited to hike in her canyon today. She was a trooper and really pushed it. She was thrilled to see the "fairies making the lake sparkle!"
June loved riding along.
Bella loved dipping her feet in the stream (sorry I know it is watershed!) especially once she noticed the flecks of gold in the sand!
